Scruggs Station Depot (photo by: Amy Veltrop-Mueller)
This was the Old Scruggs Station. The Bagnall Branch Railroad ran right behind it. The railroad branch line ran from Jefferson City to the Bagnall Dam while the dam was being built. This building sat on the northwest corner of Scruggs Station Road and South Country Club Drive. It was a General Store for a while. (Amy Veltrop-Mueller)
One thing I would point out, the caption on the image indicates that the Bagnell Branch Railroad was built at the time of the building of the dam. That’s not accurate—the Bagnell Branch was built roughly 40 years before the dam was built. It was built to facilitate hauling railroad ties out of the interior of the Ozarks, not the building of the dam. - G. Kremer
